FAITH. IDENTITY. PURPOSE
🧱 WEEK 1: BUILD WITH GOD – Focus: Let God establish what you’re building
DAY 5
👉 Scripture
1 Chronicles 28:20 (KJV)
“And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.”
👉 “What if…” perspective shift
What if the strength you need to build what God has called you to build doesn’t come from having a better plan—but from knowing He is with you?
David told Solomon to be strong, courageous, and do the work. But the foundation of that courage was not Solomon’s talent, resources, influence, or ability.
It was God’s presence.
“The LORD God… will be with thee.”
That changes everything.
Because there is a difference between asking God to bless something you decided to build and surrendering yourself to build what God has entrusted to you.
Before you ask God to make it bigger, ask whether He is the One establishing it.
👉 Breakdown
Solomon was being entrusted with an enormous assignment: building the temple.
It would require leadership, resources, wisdom, endurance, and courage. Yet David did not send Solomon into that assignment with a motivational speech about believing in himself.
He pointed Solomon back to God.
Be strong.
Do the work.
Don’t be afraid.
Why?
Because God will be with you.
This is an important distinction for us.
Sometimes we become so consumed with building the business, ministry, career, platform, family, future, dream, or opportunity that our prayers slowly become:
“God, please bless what I’m building.”
But surrender asks a different question:
“God, is this what You want to build through me?”
Those prayers may sound similar, but they come from very different postures.
One asks God to join our plans.
The other allows us to join His.
God is not impressed by something simply because it becomes big.
A life can look successful publicly and still be built independently of God privately.
That is why His presence matters more than our progress.
Before increasing your pace, make sure you are following His direction.
Before expanding what you have, make sure you have surrendered what you have.
Before asking Him for more, ask whether you have been faithful with what He already placed in your hands.
And once you know God has called you to it?
Do the work.
Surrender is not passivity.
Trusting God does not mean refusing to move until every uncertainty disappears. Solomon still had to pick up the assignment and build.
There will be moments when obedience feels intimidating.
There will be decisions you do not feel completely prepared to make.
There will be seasons when what God has placed before you feels bigger than your current capacity.
But the confidence of obedience is not:
“I know I can handle this.”
It is:
“God is with me in this.”
Your responsibility is obedience.
His responsibility is the outcome.
You do not have to manufacture what only God can establish.
You simply have to stay close enough to Him to recognize His direction—and courageous enough to obey it.
Before you build bigger, make sure you’re building with God.
👉 “A lot of people…” contrast
A lot of people measure whether something is working by how quickly it is growing.
God looks deeper.
We often ask:
Is it getting bigger?
God may be asking:
Is it becoming what I told you to build?
We celebrate expansion. God values obedience.
We chase visibility. God develops faithfulness.
We want immediate results. God often builds character before He increases capacity.
And sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is not expand.
It is to stop long enough to ask God whether the direction you are running is actually the direction He gave you.
Biblical courage is not recklessly moving forward with our own plans.
It is boldly obeying His.
👉 Truth statements
👉 God’s presence is more important than the size of what you build.
👉 You do not need God to bless your ambition; you need Him to direct your obedience.
👉 Surrender comes before expansion.
👉 God’s assignment may stretch you, but His presence will sustain you.
👉 Courage is not confidence in yourself; it is confidence that God is with you.
👉 Faithfulness matters more than visibility.
👉 When God gives the assignment, you can trust Him for what the assignment requires.
👉 Before you build bigger, make sure you’re building with God.
👉 Challenge
Before making your next move today, spend intentional time with God and ask:
“Father, am I asking You to bless what I want to build, or am I allowing You to build what You want through me?”
Then surrender one plan, goal, or area of your future back to Him.
If He says move—move courageously.
If He says wait—wait faithfully.
If He says change direction—obey quickly.
Do the work, but make sure it is His work in you and through you.
👉 Prayer
Father, I don’t want to build a life that looks impressive but exists outside of Your direction. I surrender my plans, ambitions, timing, and expectations to You.
Show me where I have been asking You to bless something I never truly surrendered to You.
Give me wisdom to recognize what You are calling me to build and courage to do the work You have placed before me. When fear tells me I am not ready, remind me that my confidence is not in my ability but in Your presence.
Keep me from chasing bigger when You are calling me deeper. Teach me to value obedience over recognition, faithfulness over visibility, and Your presence over progress.
Build my faith. Shape my identity. Direct my purpose. Let everything You establish through my life point back to You.
I trust You with what I am building because, ultimately, I want You to be the One building through me.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
